BRANDON MARSHALL SHARES NFL FINE LETTER HE RECEIVED AFTER WEARING GREEN CLEATS - Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall was fined $10,500 by the NFL for wearing green cleats in Thursday’s 27-21 win over the Giants. He decided to share the news on Wednesday via Twitter.
Marshall tweeted a picture of the letter the NFL sent him to inform him of the fine. The league charged him with committing a uniform violation, as expected.
Marshall wore the cleats to promote Mental Health Awareness week. He said last week he planned to match the fine with an equal contribution to a charity involved with mental illnesses associated with breast cancer diagnoses.
"This fine is nothing compared to the conversation started & awareness raised," Marshall tweeted.
According to the NFL’s fine schedule, $10,500 is the amount levied for a second offense.
Marshall deserves applauses for taking his lumps on this, still making a donation, and also being an advocate for a worthy cause.
